Sports, sports & ..... baggies???

Being a mom of three boys, I am LOVING the fact that 80% of our time is spent at some sort of ballgame! I seriously couldn't ask for anything better! So, I thought I'd update everyone on what sports each of the boys is playing and share some highlights.

Paden tried out for the Castle Rock Middle School basketball team last week. Colorado definitely does things a little different than Utah when it comes to school sports! They have three teams: A team, B team and C team. The top 10 kids in the grade play on A team, the next best play B and so on. A and B teams actually play other middle schools in the area where the C team scrimmages with each other. It was a tough week of tryouts but Pade came home and announced he had made the A team!!! We were stoked! There were over 70 kids tryout so he was in the top 10 in his grade. We were so proud of him! His first game was yesterday in Parker and the Castle Rock Blue Knights took on the Cimarron Stallions. Pade played awesome and his team is really good! They won 48-28 and watching them play was incredible! There is a lot of talent in that group of kids. Brian was pretty proud because 6 of the 10 kids that made A team were on his Gold Crown Basketball team this past winter. Yeah Coach Brian! So Pade will play about 6 games total then probably move on to Track through the middle school. We are proud of you Pade! Congrats on making the team!

Grif is playing competitive baseball and loving it! He is on a team called the "DC Crush" and this is the first year of "kid pitch". Another new thing this year is the players are allowed to steal bases. He is really enjoying this new level of play and had his first games last weekend. His favorite spots to play are 2nd base and pitcher! Yes, he is trying to give me a heart attack and become a pitcher! The most stressful position on the field!!! (or so it feels like to Mom!!) He pitched last game and struck out 3 of the 7 hitters he pitched to! He had a double, a couple singles and scored a few runs too. Way to go Grif! Keep it up!

Grif also participated in the Pinewood Derby for Boy Scouts. He made his own car and raced against all the other boys his age. He had a great time and his car was awesome!

So I guess that leads us to Bos........ well........um...... let's just say we're not sure what sport he wants to play! The other day I came back into the family room after folding clothes and this is what he looked like:

What in the H????? I asked him "Wow, what are you supposed to be, bud? A guard? Maybe a soldier? What?" He looked at me strangely and said "Duh, Mom, I'm doing my ice skating!" (You know, covering your hands and feet with baggies so you can slide all over the house??) Oh...... well of course! That was the next thing I was going to guess.... ??!! Anyway, we're still hoping the "sports gene" kicks in with him somewhere! He has been to sooooo many ballgames and practices, he is probably NEVER going to want to play anything! =)

Who knows?? It may even be swimming!!

Or hunting...............????

Maybe fishing........ ????????

Whatever Bos decides to do, he will do it with pride! We love you Bos-man..... you make our family complete!

What a great post! Your boys are so amazing, Jen. We are so proud of them. That is fantastic that Pade made the "A" team and Griff is striking people out on the baseball field. We're even proud of ole' Bos and his ice skating practices in your living room. You know...there is nothing wrong with that. Jessi and I invented a fascinating game of sliding around the house on books (cars) with our purses. We called it, "Ladies". I think it was invented so Jill didn't see our foot prints on her nicely vacuumed carpet. The size of the books we slid around on matched the width of her vacuumed stripes in the carpet...so let's give Bos credit for his creativity. Maybe he is going to be the engineer/inventor in your fam!

Love you!

Yeah Paden! What a huge accomplishment. Awesome! Max is playing Rockers baseball and pitching too. Just shoot me now! I guess Grif is playing on an older team so we'll probably never run into you. Dang! Can Bos play roller hockey with Lexi? He loves to skate . . .
