So Paden calls me into the computer room one day and asks me to "look over" his poetry project he did for school. In his english class, they are studying poetry and the many different formats and themes. He had put together this packet of 6 different styles of poetry (Alliteration, personification, Cinquain, Catalog, I Am.... and Lies....) then he had to write a poem to fit these styles. I have to say, I was really impressed! This kid did an amazing job and I wanted to share a couple of the poems with you.
I Am
by: Paden Rhees age 13
I am a leader and a dreamer
I wonder what my future holds
I hear my imagination running
I see my objective clearly
I want to see my companions succeed
I am a leader and a dreamer
I imagine anything that crosses my mind
I feel the pressure to come through in the end
I touch my dreams, so promising
I worry my childhood will go too fast
I cry for the pain of others
I am a leader and a dreamer
I understand the objective
I say, "Keep on keepin' on"
I dream of an adventure of a life time
I try new things
I hope my life influences others
I am a leader and a dreamer

When I showed this to Bri, he kinda got tears in his eyes! I think he related to the poem really well. Paden and his dad are a lot alike.... they are both dreamers, they are both leaders and I'm so proud of both of them.
The next poem is called "Lies". Obviously, that is the style as well as the title.... I loved this one!
LIES
I wish I werent' such a tractor beam of hotness,
because all the celebrities are jealous. Jessica
Simpson has my poster on her wall, Brad Pitt
was blinded by my smile, and Arnold Schwarzenegger
ran crying when he saw my physique.
When I turned and posed for Angelina Jolie, she
fainted and wouldn't wake up. And Sylvester Stallone
lost in an arm wrestle against me when he used both
arms.
I wish I weren't such a tractor beam of hotness.

This one shows his personality and his sense of humor. Anyway, just thought I'd share those two. The others are definitely worthy of sharing but I don't want to brag too much! That's the job of "the mother" though, right? We get to think our kids are the best at everything they do! Well, obviously, I take my "occupation" quite seriously and do a good job bragging up my own kids! =)

We love these, Paden! You are an amazing writer. We are so proud of you. Our favorite one is "Lies", except the part about you wishing you weren't "a tractor beam of hotness" isn't a lie though! You are a little hottie! Love your guts!
Jo and Mo
Seriously! I could never write like that when I was his age (or even now). That is awesome Paden, and Jeni you have all the rights to brag!
Thanks for bragging Jeni. You do take your job seriously and I'm SO HAPPY for it! Paden has always amazed me with his writing! I remember him writing something in, like 4th grade, and thinking that I must be the stupidest person alive. He truly has a talent. Geez Louie, Guy! He's such a great kid and will be doing amazing things when he gets older. You have a incredible family :), that's for sure. LOVES!
Ok, you have AN incredible family. I really should proofread more!!!!
Oh my gosh, he is talented!! I loved reading them.
Why did reading those make me cry? Because I know how freaking awesome Paden is! Loved them all - thanks for sharing!
