Elder & Sister Excell leave for Boston!

A while back, I posted about my parents getting their mission call. After spending a couple of weeks in the MTC, they left Utah and headed to Boston! Fortunately, Castle Rock was the first stop on their itinerary!!! How lucky are we??! So they spent the weekend with us. They went to a couple of ballgames with us and also came to church. It was so neat to see them with their missionary name tags on at church! They looked so...... official!!

The weekend flew by and it was time to say goodbye. The boys were pretty strong- Griff was probably the most emotional. I have been so excited for them to be able to serve this mission that I haven't been all that sad~ but I have to say.... it was tough watching them pull out of our driveway knowing it would be quite some time until we saw them again. I tried to laugh through my tears, even attempting a few cheerleading jumps, to help my parents think we would be just fine and we are 100 % supportive. After they drove around the corner, I shut the front door and kinda lost it! So much for being strong!! I really am so proud of them and this decision to serve our Heavenly Father. They are such amazing people and they are going to touch so many lives in Boston. We already miss them terribly but are looking forward to visiting them sometime in the next 18 months!

We love you Mom and Dad.... we're so proud of you and we will see you soon!

I'm so glad to hear about your parents...I was wondering if they were in Boston yet. Scott and Sue visited Boston in the Fall and thought it was so much fun!

Man, it was tough to say goodbye and try to keep it together! It's so great telling people that our mom and dad are on a mission. I love that. It seems like they'll be there forever, but when I think that they've already been gone 2 months...it's really flying by. Love you, Jen.--Jes

Oh Jeni, I feel your pain. It is such a bitter/sweet moment to see your parents go on a mission. My mom and dad have now been gone 6 months! They are loving it and I'm sure your parents are too.

Hi Sweetheart - from Boston -- That was a sweet post and we loved our time with you. We miss you all sooo much. Boston is getting to be beautiful. It has finally quit raining and all these trees are finally getting leaves on them. Can't wait for the visit. We're ready anytime - and we even have an extra bedroom in this 110 year old apartment of ours. I am still struggling with directions, and even with a GPS. We never seem to allow enough time to get anywhere - with all this traffic!!! Lardy- I have moments every day!!! Pray for your missionaries!!! Loves --
